I'm just curious, was Marye's Heights or Prospect Hill (or rather the CSA right flank in general) to be the main target of Burnside's attacks on 12/13? I'd read that his plan was to attack Jackson on the right and roll up his line, but if that were the case, then why was he using only two divisions while keeping seven in reserve (with III Corps being effectively under Franklin's command at that point in the battle)? Or was it just that when the attacks on the right failed, Burnside decided...

They were the most lop-sided casualty figures of any major battle of the war, reflecting just how strong Lee's position was, and how unimaginative Burnside's handling of the fight had become.
